The only thing standing between you and Self Realization is the belief that you are not already fully realized– Ramana Maharshi
There are a great many definitions of enlightenment. Intellectual enlightenment, prevalent during the 17th and 18th centuries, emphasised reason, analysis and individualism. Educational enlightenment is about learning. Buddhists refer to enlightenment as awakening. To Taoists it’s becoming one with the Tao.
Christianity defines enlightenment as salvation. Indian philosophy calls it moksha, and so forth.
The enlightenment I am talking about is purely spiritual. You don’t need any type of religion, philosophy or ego-generated attribute to achieve it. Reason being spiritual enlightenment is within you. It is part of you. It has forever been part of you.
There is only the one Creator. That one Creator is Love. Unlike the ego caricatures of god, the Creator creates in its own likeness, literally. The Created are therefore, by extension, love. Love creates love and can only understand love. You don’t understand the ego. You think you do, but you don’t. Your own life is a mystery. How can you therefore achieve enlightenment by way of any ego-generated thought, idea or philosophy? It isn’t possible.
It is only in ego the Created take on specialness, superiority and racism. In Creation there is no religion, intellectuality, bigotry, xenophobia, ugliness or suchlike. In Creation blondes don’t have more fun, or less fun. Everything is equal fun, equally beautiful, brilliant and creative.
Since there is only one Creator, and the Created are of the same makeup, there is only one type of enlightenment.
The spiritual enlightenment we are talking about isn’t intellectual; intellect is of the mind. Nor is it educational; it isn’t learnt. And no matter what religion calls it or how it defines it, enlightenment will never be achieved through religious means; lies and superstitions will not get you into enlightenment.
Spiritual Enlightenment is achieved through clearing the way and reconnecting with Creation. To reconnect with Creation all things ego must be cleansed and peacefully laid aside, left at the gates with the bearded gods and associated deities.
Native American author and theologian Vine Deloria Jr articulated it perfectly when he said: Religion is for people who’re afraid of going to hell. Spirituality is for those who’ve already been there.
At the present time enlightenment is being sought by individuals like almost never before. People are disillusioned with their so-called leaders, politicians, and life in general. The collective yearning that there has to be more to life than this is gathering momentum and echoing around the world like never before.
The ego is answering this thirst for love, peace and transformation by providing false prophets by the bushell. This is nothing new to be sure, false prophets have been around since day dot. It’s the way of the world. It’s like the Vatican, a new face on the throne doesn’t change the system.
These false prophets are everywhere, in all religions and doctrines. They hide behind their robes, statues, prayers, forked tongues and books. All liars, cheats and in some cases murderers. Flying first class, dining in five-star restaurants and sleeping in the most expensive hotels with celebrities as friends and hangers-on while in many instances their followers struggle to pay their electricity bills and put food on the table.
These are the ones who tout enlightenment as some kind of a precious diamond only they can deliver, and dangle that hope like a carrot in front of a donkey.
The reality of it is this: Enlightenment is not a precious diamond and the seekers are not donkeys. Everyone is in control of his and her own enlightenment. It’s free. It’s here, now, available to all.
