The saying, “Ask and it will be given to you,” is pretty specific. And it is supported by a couple of similar ones; “Seek and you will find and knock and the door will be opened to you.”
If only they could have left it at that. But no. They had to meddle, qualify and confuse it with addendums like, “as long as it agrees with god’s view of things. You must practise attracting abundance. Pray for wisdom to understand so that you ask for the right things, good things and right gifts— for example that you ask for “bread” and not for a “stone,” for a “fish” and not for a “serpent.” Otherwise we may ask and receive not, because we ask amiss.
Well, if a bloke can’t distinguish between a rock and a loaf of bread and differentiate between a nice barramundi and a red-bellied black snake, dude got much bigger issues than asking for stuff.
But look at what they’ve done with this whole asking process. Listen to their claptrap and idiotic conditions and you’re stymied before you start. In fact don’t bother starting. Just accept that absolutely nothing will happen and move on because nothing will happen. And, nothing does. Why? Because they’ve brought god in as the middle man. He has to approve. He has to agree. He has to grant …
… what a load of donkey dung!
It has nothing to do with god.
Indeed it has nothing to do with asking.
It has everything to do with giving yourself permission.
That’s right. You don’t ask any-one, or any-thing. You give yourself permission. And why is that? Because you are the one making things happen. Or not. Either way, baby, you’re it! Not god, not some far fetched law of attraction thing that is about as affective as a god, not some gypsy, genie in a bottle or Mr Edd. You!
You want to know why you have what you have, are where you are, feel as you feel, behave as you behave? Look in the mirror! Now that’s a metaphor to be sure, because the you I am referring to sits above all that. Manufacturing it, dreaming it up and projecting it, but none the less, it’s all you. The Creator doesn’t know about your shenanigans. Your illusions and make believes.
Saying that the Creator doesn’t know about our nightmares and troubles, sends the religious folks into a tailspin. And I understand that. They have abdicated responsibility. They blame god for everything. God’s will this, gods will that. Fish on Friday. Behead this one and end up in heaven. Seriously!
The actual Creator isn’t involved in this idiocy. It can’t be. How can purity buy into something as ridiculous and obscene and totally illogical as this thing we call life?
What the Creator does is beautifully put into words by Kahlil Gibran:
In the silence of the night, Wisdom came into my chamber and stood by my bed. She gazed upon me like a loving mother, dried my tears and said: “I have heard the cries of your soul and have come here to comfort you. Open your heart to me and I shall fill it with light. Ask and I shall show you the path of Truth.”
Yeah. What more can be said.
