The Thought I Woke Up With #205

Donkey Cheese

According to some, god made everything and everyone, including all the creatures, obviously. Which seems and feels kind of weird. I mean why would a god, who made everything, not make humanity, his children indeed, loving, peaceful, vegetarians?

Why have humans killing and BBQ’ing his other creations? What kind of parent does that? Has his children knee-deep in blood and guts? Gorging on flesh and blood?

We’re a weird mob alright. We have animal rights, animal sanctuaries and animal welfare agencies but go to a celebratory dinner to feast on animal parts. Here’s to the RSPCA, how do you want your steak? Church picnics and associated holy occasions are much the same, let’s kill some animals and put those babies on slow cooking spit-roasts.

Or, if you’re into the holy books the clowns populating those used to sacrifice animals to the gods. And the gods smiled upon them, pleased.

You see it? There’s something profoundly insane about the whole idea, right?

If only we’d focus on living and striving without bloodshed. What a world it would be. What wonderful, humongous things we could accomplish. What spiritual glory we’d achieve without doing anything else.

For example, did you know there’s such a thing as Donkey Cheese? I didn’t know that until early this morning. There is. They are calling it a superfood.

Turns out this stuff is really good for you; it’s said to be high in protein, full of calcium, omega 3 fatty acids, as well as being low in fat and containing a whole lot of Vitamin C. Who knew!

See what I mean though? There is so much we could do and achieve and accomplish if only we were ready to forsake our bloodlust.

Or is the real truth behind the human zeal to slaughter and consume animals a case of hatred behind the heritage? Humans have evolved to be sure, however, there’s still a whole lot of animal within each one. This way of thinking carries weight when you consider that the more “enlightened” societies are kinder and gentler on animals.

In other words, the more primitive the society the crueler it is, and not just towards animals either.

Here is a simple truth. An enlightened person is a peaceful and loving person. That’s because peace and love mean freedom. Killing, (anything) is an enslaver. There are no winners there. Everyone losses on that battlefield. So it has been, and so it will forever be.

But you can stop it. For yourself you can put an end to it. The moment you choose peace and love, they will be yours.

So maybe grab a wine flavoured Kit Kat and a little donkey-cheese and watch the world go by … free and easy. Free and easy.

Until tomorrow,
