Laughter and Tiki Tours
I have never been a very good sleeper. Waking frequently, very often doing so at 3AM and not being able to go back to sleep for long periods. Years ago waking up at 3 was accompanied by cold sweats for no reason I could make out.
Last night however was different. A first. I woke up not with a thought but a chuckle. I was actually chuckling so loud I woke myself up. I can’t recall the dream details, except that I was cracking one liners that were right up there with the best of the standup comedians.
You know what I believe the true value of comedy is? Freedom. When you are laughing, you are free of everything. There is no feeling other than that indescribable one that is holding you in rapture and delight. Being in that is being in the moment. You don’t need a savior, god, or guru. You are there.
Laughter is love and piece and joy, all combined into one.
I used to think enlightenment was serious-minded, sublime and saintly. Holy even. Now I say enlightenment is like being in a circus; none of it real, most of it exciting and even the drama is fun.
Being in the state of enlightenment is being in a state of wakefulness. It is experiencing the vitality of life, love and truth together with the courage to say and do whatever you feel needs to be said and done.
Laughter is like an ego anesthetic; you lose all ego sensation. Life pains, aches, responsibilities and restraints all disappear when laughter kicks in.
Living life in enlightenment is not too different to going on a Tiki Tour, that is to say it is taking the scenic route to a destination. And taking a wrong turn only means seeing more of the beauty and wonder of it all.
I can almost hear Dragon laughing, and the words … Told ya, floating across the airwaves.
