Strike another Redhead
Redheads Matches, has a terrific tagline. Redheads- The start of something good.
The reason that tagline caught my attention was because to me, it is in many ways representative of the ego life philosophy. Meaning, a lifetime is full of situations, of which very, very few are lifelong. Like the lit match they come to life full of hope, life and spark. Every start is thought of with hope and good intentions.
Like a match however, situations spark, peak, peter out and die. Another match is lit, another situation begins and the cycle starts over again.
This repeats, and repeats, and repeats until life itself comes to an end. A series of starts and finishes, most of which don’t achieve very much.
The way to put a stop to this cycle is not to stop striking up the matches; to stop living out scenarios, that’s not even possible. The idea is to rise above them.
Everything happens in mind. Mind is your creation. Mind is part of you. To try and eradicate the mind therefore is to try and eradicate your own self. A ridiculous notion you’d have to agree. That would be like trying to catch and destroy a thought. Good luck with that.
The way to remove a thought is to change the mind. The way to set mind aside is to stop using it.
