Reasons for success
One thing I’ve noticed about so called successful people. Whenever you see them interviewed, they always put their success down to luck, God, an accident or some other external thing.
One of Australia’s leading rugby league players, if indeed not the best in the world, said he puts his success down to fear. “The fear of failure drives me.” Dude, seriously? You’re one of my favourite athletes but fear? Is that what you’re going to teach your kids? To be terrified unless they win? And what happens if they don’t?
Another leading Aussie, in his field of endeavour said he puts his success down to his kids. I do it all for my kids. Yeah right. You started way before you even thought about having kids. And were successful. Why’d you do it then? Your cat?
American athletes almost always, “Thank the Lord.” Even the many found out to be drug cheats, did it for the Lord. So, the Lord gave this guy, and this girl, a boost, at the expense of the rest of the field? Even when they used performance enhancing gear for that little extra pick-me-up? And the poor bugger running clean gets shafted by the lord? Then again, it is ego we’re talking about, so why not! Drugs, sex and rock n roll right?
Why not just wake up, grow up, wise up and tell the truth — I’m successful because I work hard at it and it comes together for me. Beyond that, I wouldn’t have a clue, but I like it.
